Plan the Day for Massive Success with Guaranteed Results!
I like to plan the day.
Not the hour-by-hour kind of planning and certainly not minute-by-minute.
But, in general, doing so helps me know that I'll get A, B, and C done and maybe even more of the alphabet.
And how I accomplish all those things is to make it a priority to plan the day.
However, I don't always succeed, like today.
So far today has been one of the chaotic unplanned variety.
It has really irritated me and I'll share how today has progressed vs how it would have progressed had I done what I teach others to do and that is to plan the day.
In a way, I'm glad today has unfolded the way it has because it led to me sharing this post and its lesson with you.
Also, I won't make this mistake again in the near future.
I say "near future" because remember, even speeding tickets change behavior only temporarily.
How does it go when I don't plan the day
This morning after my little one got on the bus, I vegged out on my phone for at least an hour.
THEN, I took a Stanback (aspirin powder) for some pain.
Of course, then I had to wait MORE TIME for it to kick in.
Before I had a chance to figure out what I would do today, my sister called and asked me to go to Cosmoprof, the salon equivalent of Sam's Club or Costco's, to pick up 4 perms for her.
And she needed them by 9:30 am.
When I dropped them off, she did a bang trim for me before her client came in.
Instead of going home and planning the day, I decided to have an early lunch so headed over to the beach to grab a burger and fries from Culver's.
Then I headed to Tom Thumb to grab some tea before I headed home to "work."
(On WHAT I still hadn't decided.)
So, I get home and sit in my chair at my computer and stare at the screen.
There are at least 2 dozen things I COULD do and, honestly, when I don't plan the day I feel like this...
And don't get a lot done... Trust me.
How it goes when I DO plan the day
Contrast that day to this planned one.
I take a Stanback after I wake up Honey Bun (one of her many nicknames... another is Chicken Liver).
By the time she leaves, it has kicked in and I'm ready for some prayer time.
(Notice in what actually happened today that no prayer time was mentioned as of yet?)
After that, I take a 20-minute walk (one of several).
Then I return to begin work based on my pre-made To-Do list I made the evening before when I planned the day.
In the course of my day, I get A, B, and C done (at least) before getting the little one off the bus.
Then, since I know what awesome help kids can be, we figure out exactly how she can help and what tasks she'll do today.
This is the NORMAL for me with a little advanced planning.
We all just need to find what works, and then DO IT. In this case it was to plan the day.
Now go and plan YOUR day and make it awesome.
